Fancy Free string art card + tutorial

2016/03/09

Today I want to introduce you a new trend. I guess you also found out that every stitching, sewing, embroidery on scrapbooking projects are very popular nowadays. There is a "new" technique what conquers the creative community. Especially now that the Pink Paislee Fancy Free by Paige Evans launched the string art templates. There is two kit, one with a big heart and another with a smaller diamond. In the kit you can find a plastic template (so you can use it again and again), twine and jewel brads.

I made a short tutorial to show you how I made a colorful card with string art. Let's start!

#1 Step

I chose a blue paper from the Fancy Free 6x6" paper pad and cut to size. Then I pinned holes on my paper through the template. I used a compass but you can also use any needles.

#2 Step

I have just followed the pattern on the template. I used six threads so the diamond can pop out but this means you need quite a lot twine.

#3 Step

This is how it looks when it is done. Take care to sew evenly. Not too loose and not to tight else it will pull the paper.

#4 Step

This is the back of the string art. Forget the knots and use washi tape to glue down the ends of the twine. Always stretch the threads before taping.

And this is the final card. I used the So happy die cut and puffy sticker from the Fancy Free collection. In the end I added some small black splashes and enamel shapes.

I hope you like my card and tutorial. Have a nice day! Flóra
